And when I say “edit suite” I mean “zoom room.” But Editor Kevin Horkaew and I are making great progress! They say a movie is written three times: once by the screenwriter, once by the director, then in the editing room. It’s true, and I couldn’t ask for a better collaborator on this final draft of of my script/direction!

As Content Producer for The Playwrights Realm’s Aspiring Playwrights Program I’m always asking myself “what do I wish I’d known when I was starting out…?” This article is one of those things!
The irony of the piece is not lost on me. Like so many young directors and writers wanting to make work, I frequently took the DIY approach (still do, TBH…but I’m startegic about it now!). That’s how I discovered my talent for producing. But it was, and still is, tough! I hope this article helps young artists with that same spirit and drive think through the ramifications, and other possibilities, when it comes to trying to put up your own work.
