New Playwrights Realm Article

October 19, 2023

Even for folks who make theatre, the who’s-who and who-does-what of a professional theatre company can be a bit of a mystery. Having held a range of positions at a range of companies, I hope this article gives folks a bit more understanding about the various positions involved in making the work audiences see on stage.

This piece was written for The Realm’s Aspiring Playwrights program, which aims to provide resources for those in the very earliest stages of their writing careers (regardless of age), without access or inroads to professional peers or industry leaders.

That's a Wrap!

October 12, 2023

After three whirlwind days of filming on moving boats, turning an UWS apartment into a convincing mid-90s gay club, dodging gawking tourists in Central Park—and being endlessly grateful for the phenomenal cast and crew who helped bring my vision to life—September is in the can!

Here’s a look behind the scenes.

"The Other Two" Spec Script Recognized by Austin Film Festival!

September 22, 2023

My spec script of the brilliant HBO series The Other Two has been named an Austin FIlm Festival “Second Rounder”—placing in the top 20% of the thousands of submissions received!

In my episode—titled “Chase Does Quaran-teen”— It's January 2021 and the Dubek Covid #QuaranTeam is getting stir crazy (and horny) being stuck in Justin Theroux's house. But when Justin shows up to get his motorcycle (or is it a toilet?) the family's life goes viral…literally and figuratively.

SEPTEMBER casting

September 18, 2023

I’m so excited to share the principal cast for SEPTEMBER: Frankie J. Álvarez and Gustavo Márquez! I couldn’t have asked for better on-screen collaborators and can’t wait to work with them!

Frankie J. Álvarez is a bilingual actor from Miami, best known as Agustín on the hit HBO show LOOKING (Imágen Award nom, Best Supporting Actor). He recently starred opposite Danny Glover in THE DRUMMER, and on stage in the critically acclaimed WET BRAIN at Playwrights Horizons (co-producer of the Tony-winning queer musical A STRANGE LOOP). Frankie recurred on SMASH and BLINDSPOT, and has guest-starred on LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, FANTASY ISLAND, NEW AMSTERDAM, THE GOOD WIFE, and many others. Gustavo Márquez is a recent graduate of the Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program. A first generation Mexican-American, he draws from his varied life experiences—from caring for his mother as she transitioned after a battle with cancer, to working as a janitor in Antarctica—in pursuit of telling stories that reflect his experience. Screen credits include AND JUST LIKE THAT..., CHICAGO P.D., and BLUE BLOODS, as well as roles at professional theatre companies such as Denver Center Theatre Company and Cleveland Play House.
